Casale Giulia

The terrace had spectacular sunset views, and the apartment was spotless. We spent three nights here with our six-month-old baby, and everything went perfectly. The property's restaurant was excellent value, and the pool was great for cooling off. Such a peaceful spot for a relaxing weekend. We'll definitely return!

The location and views are beautiful, and the place has plenty of potential, but our week at Casale Giulia in August 2025 was harder than it needed to be. We booked knowing the house had a terrace reached by stairs, and Giulia suggested adding a gate because we had two little girls. What we hadn't understood was that the apartment was at another level above the terrace, reached by a steep spiral staircase with no handrail. A gate was installed there, but eating outside became a real ordeal: opening and closing it, carrying plates down twenty steps, then going back up and down to set the table. Hauling the high chair, possibly the stroller, and even our suitcases up and down was difficult. It might work for adults, but with two young children this apartment isn't suitable, even with a safety gate. Managing it all felt like a workout. The kitchen had no microwave or potholders. It was very hot when we arrived on the first day. We knew there was no air conditioning, but our fan barely worked and was extremely noisy at night. We had to argue a bit before we got two fans, though eventually we did. Waste is sorted, but there was only one bin and nowhere to keep the other bags. The bathroom had no toilet paper holder or place for the bidet towel, and our shower door was broken. We reported it, but it wasn't repaired. The Wi-Fi was poor, and internet in the area doesn't work, though that can be fine if you're looking to relax. The pool is beautiful, and so is the setting, but the Abete apartment could use several improvements. I also think more laundry machines should be set aside for guests, or at least one or two more added just for them, ideally in their own homes. The place and the views have a lot going for them, but some changes would make a stay easier and more enjoyable.
