Shields Negril Villas

The rooms are simple and limited, which makes sense for the price, but the stay was honestly worth more than we paid. There’s a private entrance to the beach, and a pool with a bar just 30 seconds from that entrance for when the weather isn’t ideal. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and exceptional. We had an amazing time and would definitely come back.

This is my second stay at Shields Negril Villa, and I plan to keep coming back. I’ve been here three weeks and really don’t want to leave. It’s quiet, beautiful, relaxing, inexpensive, and works well for a vacation or work if you want an undisturbed place. Bring your mifi, though, because the internet sometimes goes out. That seems to affect most of the island and the whole area, so it isn’t the hotel’s fault. I can see them upgrading it. For gentle waves outside your window as you fall asleep, book the Oceanview king-size room. Mine hasn’t disappointed. Food is available on site, but you need to order the day before. It’s affordable and delicious, and the bar is open every day. If you forget to order, Travelers is right next door and will welcome you. Their food is made to order from the daily menu. There’s scuba diving next door too, with certification available. Myron, the lovely gentleman who runs the "One Love" instruction, and his whole crew are awesome. They also offer snorkeling and glass-bottom boating, and will take you anywhere on the sea. Ask me anything about this place and I’ll answer. I love it. It was a really bad stay. The fridge and shower were dirty, and the pool was dirty and out of service. I had to leave the company's vehicle parked on the roadside, which made me uncomfortable. There were strands of hair on the bed comforter, and the tablecloth at breakfast was dirty. After a day of work, I came back to no water and no electricity. The one good thing was that the owner refunded me without much hassle.

My parents have been coming to this hotel since the 2000s, for about 20 years, and I’ve been traveling there for 10. It’s safe and cozy, with wonderful staff, and the price is very reasonable. I can’t wait to return next year.
