White Sands Negril

The pool was clean and a nice place to relax, and the gaming area with pool and table tennis was a fun bonus. My garden suite was spacious, and the clothing rack made it convenient to dry beach or pool wear. Check-in was smooth, and the welcome water was appreciated. Housekeeping came every other day. There were no “Do Not Disturb” signs, but staff seemed respectful of our things; they brought fresh towels and a bath mat and emptied the trash. Beach towels cost $10, which was disappointing for a beach resort. The biggest issue in the room was the very thin walls. We could hear a couple having sex every night, and it made sleeping really difficult. You can hear everything through those walls, whether people are loud or not. The bathroom had problems too: the shower head was fixed in one position, and the temperature swung between scalding hot and ice cold, with nothing in between. Wi-Fi kept disconnecting whenever my phone locked, so staying connected was frustrating. I was also surprised to find out on arrival that White Sands Negril has separate beach and garden sides. The beach and restaurant are across the road from the garden suites, and that wasn’t made clear on the booking site. Security didn’t inspire confidence either. Guests get wristbands, but the gate barrier stays open during the day, and though it closes at night, the gateman never asked who we were. The property has potential, with its good location, spacious rooms, and some nice features, but the unclear information, poor sound insulation, inconsistent facilities, and weak security affected our stay. I’d only recommend it if you know what to expect, especially around privacy and amenities.

I’ve stayed here twice, and both visits left me with wonderful memories. Thanks to all the staff, too many to name, for the laughs and fun times. I’m already looking forward to coming back next year.

I’d happily stay here again. The hotel is small and low-key, right by Seven Mile Beach, and Indies 957 across the street and the other guests helped make it feel homey. It’s a really relaxing spot. The one downside was having to pay for my own towel, and the charge wasn’t refundable. I’d never come across that before. Otherwise, I had a great time.

The room felt wrong as soon as I walked in, so I knew I couldn’t stay. It was dank, with gaps at the top and bottom of the door where lizards could get in. It also wasn’t the room shown in the listing or the one I’d booked. I’d reserved a deluxe room for two nights, but this wasn’t comfortable at all. The front desk was already closed, and the only person I could reach was the security guard. He seemed afraid to call the manager and tried to talk us into staying. That wasn’t happening. I spent the rest of the night looking for somewhere else, then returned the key, armbands, and Wi-Fi passwords to security and emailed to say I wouldn’t be staying and wanted a refund. I got no reply the next day, so I went back to make sure they’d received my email and ask about the refund. The manager would refund only one night, not both. He said he couldn’t rebook the room the night before, even though the hotel wasn’t fully booked and clearly nobody else was trying to book a room. The manager’s manner felt unwelcoming and unaccommodating, and I found his responses passive-aggressive. Not a nice feeling, not a nice place. I’d never set foot on the property again.
