Al Rashid Hotel

For $55 a night, this was an awesome budget stay. I’m not sure why the Petra tourist guide lists it as one star. The room was small but clean, with a comfortable bed, nice bathroom, satellite TV, and WiFi included. Breakfast is simple, though you can ask them to bring a fried egg or omelette. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and I’d highly recommend it if you want somewhere clean and comfortable without spending much.

The bathrooms could have been cleaner, but the rest worked amazingly well for me and my travel companions. Our rooms were spacious, the beds comfortable, and the staff stayed friendly and attentive throughout. Breakfast was good and generous, a nice start before hiking in Petra. It’s about a 15-minute walk downhill to get there, though you might prefer a taxi on the way back.

Mohamed can arrange Petra tours and access through the back gate, which we highly recommend. We’re independent travellers and got a warm welcome when we arrived. The hotel is only about a 15-minute walk from Petra’s main gate, and our room was clean and modern, with a spotless bathroom and international TV. We’d recommend staying here for a Petra trip.

We were happy with our room and its great view. This is a good basic hotel at Petra, reasonably priced, so don’t expect anything fancy. The restaurant doesn’t have its own kitchen, but there’s one outside where Al Rashids customers get discounts. When you’re at Petra, most of your time goes to exploring rather than staying in the room.
