We had a private room, which was very clean and nicely furnished, and were lucky to have a pleasant balcony. Four private rooms share a lounge, a big kitchen and two shower/toilet rooms. Nobody else was staying while we were there, so it felt like having a lovely apartment to ourselves. My wife and I found the staff and meals very good too. The evening buffet is well worth trying: 7 JOD for a good range of salads and two mains, with a home-cooked feel. Petra's entrance is about a five-minute walk away, and the price is low. Most rooms are Japanese-style cabins, basically sleeping spaces with ceilings around 1.5 metres high. They're a nice, inexpensive option and plenty of people use them for a budget stay.

I stayed three nights while visiting Petra and was really pleased with the hostel. The double bed was extremely comfortable, and they checked that I was warm enough and offered extra blankets. The cabins are modelled on Japanese capsules and can be locked when you’re out, though not from the inside. There’s a small locker in each one. Sound travels, so you can hear guests talking, but the huge common area gives you plenty of room to hang out and socialize. The price is reasonable for somewhere so close to Petra’s entrance. The showers were great, and I enjoyed a warm one after hiking each day. Towels cost 1 JD. I didn’t eat there, but a few people I met said the lunch looked like a good deal. The staff were friendly, and they helped me book my bus to Wadi Rum. You do need to climb several flights of stairs to get in, as a lot of reviews mention, but I didn’t find it too bad.

The hostel is well priced and everything, from the beds and bathrooms to the shared spaces, was very clean. They offer breakfast, dinner and a handy lunchbox for a Petra hike. You can walk to Petra's visitor center in about five minutes, and there are small supermarkets nearby. I’d definitely recommend Petra Cabin Hostel! 😊

Honestly, I felt uncomfortable here and decided at check-in to move to another hotel nearby. One employee was a bit too friendly with me, and it made me uneasy. I didn't feel the Jordanian warmth I seemed to find everywhere else in the country. The price is definitely a plus, since it was very cheap, and you get what you pay for. You can also judge the place's integrity from the way it has responded to some low-rated reviews. I wouldn't really recommend it.

The climb up can be a bit much, especially with luggage, but my stay was okay. Maybe because it was winter and there weren't many people, I could hear everything from another cabin when someone took a call. The place was otherwise clean and tidy, and still a great value.
