Aizu-Wakamatsu Washington Hotel

I'm a solo male traveler from Mexico. I picked Washing Hotel because it's near JR Aizuwakamatsu and the restaurant had good reviews. There aren't many hotel choices in the city, and I was glad I chose it. The building and rooms do look dated, as other reviews say, but to me that's part of Aizuwakamatsu's atmosphere. The city itself feels like it's stuck in time. Getting around was easy: JR Aizuwakamatsu is a five-minute walk, a 7-Eleven is two minutes away, and Lion D'Or, I think that's the name, is about five minutes away. My room was on the small side compared with other places I've stayed in Japan, but that was fine for one person. I also had a great view, with Aizu Tsurugajo Castle visible in the distance. My time in Aizuwakamatsu ended up being one of the highlights of my Japan trip, which I hadn't expected. There are very few foreign tourists, and the city is calm and laid back, with a lot of history you can feel. The hotel's restaurant was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. Dinner service was among the best I had on the trip, and the steak was delicious. The breakfast buffet had plenty to choose from, both Western and Japanese, and lovely city views. The receptionist who checked me in was so welcoming. I didn't get her name, and although she spoke only a little English, we managed to communicate with a translator app. I'd definitely choose Washing Hotel again if I return to Aizuwakamatsu.
