The part I appreciated most was how welcome I felt before my race. I was in Amakusa for the Amakusa Marathon, with its shore-side course and full and half race options. Business Minshuku Pearl is about a 2-3 minute walk from the start, which made it a great spot. The host was thoughtful and friendly, including with a foreign guest like me who doesn't speak much Japanese. We didn't always communicate smoothly, but I still felt at home and could focus on my condition before the race. That kind of warmth means a lot when you're visiting another country and aren't confident with the language. This was my second stay. It's a family-run, bed-and-breakfast-style place with older but clean facilities. My traditional tatami room had a bed, table, refrigerator, shower room, and private restroom. It was cozy, organized, and warm even in the middle of winter. Shampoo, body soap, a shaver, and other amenities were there too. The breakfast was my favorite part: if you ask ahead, they can make a Japanese home-style meal. I'm grateful for the care I received during my stay, and would recommend it to women and men looking for a well-located base while exploring Amakusa.

The room was really clean and comfortable. We showed up on two large motorcycles, and although the hosts were busy getting ready for other guests, they kindly directed us to a covered place for them. It rained the next morning, so being able to set off with the bikes sheltered and ready was a big help.

There were five of us, staying in three rooms. The landlady was friendly and the rooms were clean, so we could relax. We didn't eat there, but the atmosphere was so nice that we'd like to come back next month.

I was glad I could leave my motorcycle inside the building. This was my first overnight stay without meals. The room was roomy, quiet, and felt like a studio apartment without a kitchen. It already had an air purifier and air conditioner, so it was comfortable. Yukata robes weren't included among the amenities, though.

I booked a room-only stay over the phone. Check-in was at a simple counter beside the restaurant area on the first floor. My room was upstairs on the second floor, reached by stairs, and had been renovated.
