Kami House

I only had one night here and wish it could’ve been longer. The room had the serene, minimal style I love about Japan, and everything was impeccably clean. The kind hosts made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived and were incredibly attentive. It’s an easy walk to the ferry terminal and not too far from the town centre. When my alarm failed to go off, one of the hosts even woke me and drove me to the ferry station in the early hours. I’m very grateful for that.

The breakfast was delicious, and on my last day Kami thoughtfully made homemade onigiri for me to take for lunch. They were so tasty. I felt looked after throughout my stay, from the warm welcome by the hosts to all the little touches. The price for the quality is among the best I’ve experienced. This was my favourite place to stay in Japan, and I’ll definitely return when I’m back in Amami.

The hosts are really lovely, and the place is very clean. The ferry terminal, Family Mart, and the beach are all within walking distance.
