I love the Japanese-style feel of this hotel. My room was really comfortable, with a futon and a kotatsu, plus a sophisticated toilet. The food was great too, and I still remember my first onsen experience there.

A quiet place for a relaxing getaway. The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the baths were amazing.

The outdoor bath is small but lovely, and breakfast was incredible. It’s a beautiful traditional-style Japanese onsen.

That gently warm bath lived up to its reputation. The water was so comfortable that we could stay in for ages, and even our children enjoyed the hot spring because it wasn’t too hot. Being able to relax in the bath together was a real plus on a family trip. We also loved the evening Japanese drum performance, which made a big impression and delighted the kids. The food was delicious throughout, and breakfast was generous and filling. The owner’s warm welcome and lovely personality have stayed with me. The hallways can feel a little cold in winter, but the inn’s charm more than makes up for it. We felt comfortable bringing the children, and would like to visit again.

I completely relaxed during my stay and would like to come back if I get the chance. The retro glass windows and locks, the timeworn hallway floorboards, and the grandfather clock in the dining room all give the place so much character. The lukewarm bath was just right for a long soak. There’s a reclining spot in the outdoor bath, and when you lie back, the water reaches a comfortable level. It felt like the kind of bath that really warms you through. The meals featured Nagano ingredients and were carefully made, with delicious broth. The sashimi was Shinshu salmon and smoked char, an interesting combination. The dishes had local touches like miso, but the flavor wasn’t overpowering. Matsutake mushroom rice and soup in an earthenware pot brought such a happy autumn aroma, and the portions suited us perfectly. Breakfast rice was tasty too, though I kept myself from having too much so I’d have room for all the sides, lol. The coffee after the meal was good, and the water tasted so nice that I kept some chilled in the room fridge.
