I’m on night three of a three-night stay. This place feels more Showa-era than like a brand-new Reiwa hotel, and it’s room-only, with no meals or large communal bath. What really impressed me was the care: the room and bathroom were spotless, and they’d switched on the heat before I was due to head out.
It’s quiet around here, and the receptionist was kind and polite. The outlet is a long way from the room, and there’s no bidet toilet, but I didn’t have other complaints. Looks like the boiler is off between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
We used this as our base for a visit to Takeda Castle and had a really nice stay. Just keep in mind the nearest convenience store is about a 10-minute walk, and there aren’t any vending machines in the hotel.
The room had lots of outlets, plus extension cords, so charging everything was easy. I was comfortable here, and free laundry was a big help. The dryer had to be switched off by 10 p.m., though, and the boiler was off from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m., so bathing then wasn’t a good option. This is a place where you’ll want a car; Wadayama Station is about a 15-minute walk, and the nearest convenience store is around 10 minutes away on foot.
My room was roomy and comfortable, so I’d happily come back. I ended up using a nearby public bath because the shower curtain was short and I didn’t want water all over the unit bath, lol. Lots of visitors here seem to be heading to the Takeda Castle ruins and leave early. The boiler is off from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., so you can bathe early or use a nearby public bath.
