We stayed in an ichibakan Japanese Western room, about 40 square meters and quite spacious. The staff were helpful, and the bathhouse on the seventh floor had a great view. Our room had a splendid view too, and breakfast was really good. They can arrange food for dietary restrictions, but you need to let them know beforehand. It’s a nice hotel, though expensive.

The hotel was worth the visit. The outdoor hot springs were lovely, dinner was delicious, and the room was clean and well organized.

There’s a pleasant onsen, but otherwise this is a pretty standard hotel. Service was mediocre at best, and the room felt dated. I don’t have a reason to stay again.

A calm, cozy spot to base yourself for hiking and excursions.

The room’s sunrise view was beautiful, and dinner was delicious. The front desk staff were very friendly. I stayed at Hotel Aso, Building 1, with a tour group. The room was spacious, with tatami mats, and had a separate bathtub for anyone who didn’t want to take a nude bath. Heating is controlled by the front desk, so you have to ask them to adjust the temperature and other settings. The tap’s hot water was a little hard to control. There aren’t supermarkets or convenience stores close by. The nearest one, Miyahara Uchinomaki, is about a kilometer away; if you don’t want to walk, there are coin-operated vending machines at the hotel. The building has a vintage look, but the facilities are actually quite good and don’t feel especially old.
