Morinoouchi Museum & Cottage

Very small.

Inside, it was clean and well maintained, but the neglected backyard and hard-to-see parking lines were a shame. The next morning, someone from the museum said we’d parked incorrectly. I felt clearer lines or signs would have helped, especially since the inside was so tidy. I stayed with two friends, three of us in all. It felt like an old-fashioned cottage, with three beds, though one person slept on a futon over a thick mattress. There was a microwave but no toaster, so we couldn’t toast bread. The kitchen was small, and the dishes were just the bare minimum.

I was there just for the picture book museum. On my visit, they had original drawings by Hiroshi Tateno on display, and I could take my time appreciating them. I made some new discoveries and left satisfied. It was a shame, though, that card payments required a purchase of more than 5000 yen.

A clean, comfortable log cabin. The WiFi was a little weak, and although there were beds for three with one person on a futon, that was fine.
