Beppu nagomi

The room was quiet and spotless, and the bed was super comfortable. I loved the modern, newly finished rooms, especially the strong shower pressure. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower foam were provided. Beppu station was an easy five-minute walk with our luggage, and we found a great breakfast spot just three minutes from the hotel. We booked two rooms through Agoda, but only got a check-in code for one. There was nobody at the front desk, and no one picked up the help line despite our calling for 60 minutes. Eventually Agoda gave us a second code so we could get into the other room. One thing to know: some rooms are upstairs on the second floor with no lift, so you’ll need to carry your luggage up. Luckily, ours was on the first floor.

We had a really satisfying stay. The interior looked lovely, the facilities were good, and the kitchen came stocked with dishes and other utensils. There’s no on-site parking, so we left the car in a nearby lot. Getting in required a password, but the email with it never arrived. I called and they sorted it out right away, which was great. We could hear children quite a bit, though.

The decor is attractive and the facilities are top-notch, but the service was a disaster. Be careful booking through Agoda: we got redirected and never received the self check-in details. The hotel only lists a Japanese phone number and email address. Waiting for an email reply at 9 PM didn’t seem realistic, and we ended up stranded at the door for almost two hours. Go ahead and try it if that kind of wait sounds okay to you. Don’t be taken in by the photos. The place looks nice, but the service and amenities are lacking. There are several locations for this brand in Beppu, all with a similar style. Choose carefully, or avoid them altogether.
