The staff were kind and helpful, and their service showed how much they care about the hotel. The food was great, and I'd recommend the traditional Japanese banquet for dinner since it gives you a good variety of options. We stayed two nights. Although Oniyama Hotel has been operating for over 60 years, it's in really good condition. Our room was on the top floor, 7F, with a great view of the area. Tourist spots are also within walking distance. There are hot springs on both 1F and 6F, each with a different feel.

The family baths are first come, first served, so you can't reserve one. There are two private mixed-gender baths where you can talk with your partner. The rooms and baths are wonderful. Park in front of the hotel, even if it doesn't look like a parking area.

The room felt a bit old, but it was clean and tidy, with a warm traditional tatami feel. The onsen is big, pretty, and worth trying. Unlike other onsen hotels in Japan, though, the staff at Oniyama hotel seemed to avoid interacting with non-Japanese tourists.
