PrimeRoom Beppu TATAMI Suite

The room was well maintained and had all the necessary amenities. It's the best room in Beppu, easily accessible, and check-in and check-out were hassle-free.

We arrived expecting to check in, but entry required a PIN we hadn't received. We called the listed number several times and no one picked up, so we couldn't get inside and had to find somewhere else to stay. Please refund us right away :)

For the room and price, this place is really reasonable, and I can see why it could earn five stars. The hotel itself was clean and nice, though it sits on a busy street and unloading luggage in the evening was difficult, even with my elderly parents and relatives with me. Agoda reviews made the parking sound right beside the room, but it was actually a bit of a walk, so we had to park and move around from there. We had two beds downstairs and two futons, but no sheets were provided. The other guests upstairs may not have read the instructions, or may have thought they were being quiet, but their vacuuming and hard footsteps carried on until around 1 a.m. Since my parents and relatives often sleep there and I tend to worry about that, the noise made this stay a poor fit for me. Light sleepers on the second floor may have a hard time too.

The location was a real plus for me, with around ten municipal hot springs within walking distance and Kitahama's downtown area also nearby. I stayed here twice while visiting Beppu's hot springs, and on weekdays I had a private space at a reasonable price. The room was clean and the bath was roomy, which made for a comfortable stay apart from the footsteps when people were upstairs. Weekend prices go up surprisingly, so weekdays seem much better value.
