Waking up to snow right outside the window was lovely, and you can even see the scenery from the toilet. This is a distinctive, secluded house run by a friendly couple. The shower may feel a bit inconvenient when someone else is using it because the heating capacity is limited, which is understandable for environmental reasons. Since it's a home-style stay, guests need to follow the basic house rules.
The owners were really friendly and helpful, and breakfast made with local products was very tasty. The rooms and shared spaces were clean. It's also an easy base for ski holidays, with access to the main ski areas nearby, whether you're exploring resorts or ski touring.
We visited in mid-December during our 10-day Hokkaido trip, and this was our most wonderful stay. The Japanese-style ensuite room felt cozy and was clean. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, made with local ingredients like pumpkin and potatoes. We still remember the taste. Highly recommended.
A really homey stay. The owner was lovely, attentive, and patient. The bathroom does get cold, so heading into town for a hot public bath might be the better option.
