Sunset Resort Mihama

We arrived much later than planned after delayed flights and one cancellation, and missed the 9pm check-in deadline. I thought we’d have to find another hotel for the night, but the staff had left detailed self check-in instructions for us. They didn’t have to do that, and we’re so grateful for their kindness. My husband and I were in Okinawa for our first wedding anniversary, and we were really happy with the experience. We highly recommend staying here!

The rooms are small, clean, practical, simply furnished, and nice. The location has a lot going for it, with restaurants, American Village, and the seaside nearby, though the main street makes it really noisy, especially on weekend nights. I expected a bit more service, including at least some English knowledge.

The three stars are for the room and the reserved parking space. Service was really bad. We booked a triple room but got towels for only two people. The front desk said that because we were two adults and two children, they had only provided adult towels. But it’s clearly a triple room, so don’t make excuses. The front desk staff were inside, but after check-in we couldn’t reach them. We stood around at the door without anyone greeting us, which was awful. The complaints about motorcycle gangs making noise every night are true. I came here to observe them. They don’t provide baby supplies.

There’s a FamilyMart downstairs, which is really handy. The location is a little far out, but that turned out to be a plus since the motorcycle noise in American Village gets loud at night.
