There was a grocery store right across the road, so grabbing dinner and beer was easy, and my room had a pretty decent view. The staff were always kind and helpful. I use Hotel AZ for what it’s meant for, a clean place to sleep and a good breakfast included in the morning, and I’ve had a great experience with the chain every time. There are laundry machines too. Bonus, I got to see a jet fighter plane.
The breakfast buffet was simple but plenty adequate, and it was included in the 4,800 yen nightly price. The place is clean and new, with really friendly, helpful staff, and some of them speak English. It’s close to both the train and a grocery store across the street. The road nearby makes mornings a bit noisy. There’s an ATM farther down that accepts Canadian debit cards, and it’s a short cab ride to the station.
For 4,800 yen a night with breakfast included, the price is pretty good. The room felt a little small, though, and the wifi was quite slow.
The buffet was a real bright spot while I was traveling. There was a good mix of food, with salads and meat dishes alongside the fried items, and it all tasted great. This time they also had jjigae, which was just what I needed when I was feeling cold.
The room was clean, which I appreciated since I ended up staying here because it was the only place available for the night on my way back from a business trip to Kumamoto. There wasn’t much around, so I mostly just slept. I’d like to come back on a tour someday. On this visit, though, loud students who seemed to be there for club activities were making noise early Saturday morning, so I didn’t get the refreshed start I’d hoped for.
