The staff were so kind and helpful, and tried their best to make the stay special for my husband and me, even with the language barrier 😊. I’d happily return to this ryokan in Japan. We had a King Superior Room, which was tremendous in size, with a separate toilet and shower room. There was plenty of room to set up a futon double bed on the floor in Japanese style, even with the king bed in place. The hotel sits in a lovely small town, with local roads and restaurants that are nice to walk around. There’s a public onsen for guests, plus a private one with an extra charge, or a complimentary hour each day for Club Wyndham members. Breakfast and dinner were good, with a selection of menu options. Strongly recommended if you want to experience a Japan ryokan and Japanese hospitality.

The hot spring water made a lasting impression on my son and me. It felt unusually powerful and fresh, even if the spring isn’t as well known as Kusatsu. We had an amazing 5 nights here last summer, and I can’t believe the place has so many negative reviews. The meals changed every day for both dinner and breakfast, which is rare for a ryokan that usually has only 2-3 alternatives. There was a check-in mix-up: they were going to give us a Superior King instead of the Delux King we’d booked, but I insisted, and they eventually gave us our reserved room. Ours was on the 2nd floor, very quiet and clean. We never heard anyone below, next door, or above, even though it was right across from the dining area. There are washing machines and dryers downstairs, one of the main reasons we chose this ryokan. They also run a shuttle to and from the station between 10am and 5pm. It’s within walking distance of other day-trip hot spring facilities, and there’s a city bus too. With the spring quality and location, I’d absolutely stay at Club Wyndham Chikumakan Nagano again, and I’d choose the same spacious, quiet room.

The onsen are nice and clean, and you can book a private one too. We included breakfast and dinner, which was handy since we came before peak season and not much was open. It’s a nice hotel in a very quiet onsen town. Getting to nagano is easy enough, and we also went skiing in karuizawa for a day since it’s along the train line.

The room was comfortable, the staff were polite and helpful, and the food tasted good. It’s a really good value ryokan, with pretty decor and a relaxing atmosphere. We got yukata, and a great perk was being able to use the private bath for free after 23:30. Thanks you.

I had a great stay, and I’ll come back whenever I’m passing through Nagano. The food was the kind of Japanese cuisine I love, so don’t expect an intercontinental breakfast or Western dinners. This is a ryokan, and I think people should judge it as one. The staff are international, and they were all very kind. Japan has a growing aging population that isn’t being renewed, especially outside Tokyo, so people come from all over Southeast Asia. Depending on the room you choose, you get a real Japanese stay that’s memorable. Yes, the doors are made of paper and can have holes. Thanks again to the kind staff.
