Air Terminal Hotel

The temperature was the main drawback for me. It’s tied to the airport system, so you can’t control it in your room; the temperature follows the airport terminal. The TV is also very small and sits across the room. That said, the hotel is right in New Chitose airport, with the train station nearby, about a five-minute walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful, the room was very clean, WiFi was fast and strong, and the bed was comfortable. There’s breakfast in the morning, though I didn’t try it. It was my first stay and I’d happily come back, especially as a base for Sapporo.

The rooms are spacious, and the bed was comfortable. The building feels a bit old, though, and the elevator waits can be long. I still found it a solid, stress-free place to stay at the airport, especially with an early flight the next day. The free breakfast starts at 6:00 AM, and guests can also use the airport’s hot spring (Onsen) at no charge. Be aware that tattoos aren’t allowed in the Onsen. Everything else was decent, and being right at the airport is very convenient.

For an early flight, staying here makes sense; otherwise, you might consider Sapporo or Chitose city. The way breakfast was handled left a bad impression. Staff closed the restaurant gate before breakfast hours had ended, then gave guests no notice and didn’t say where to leave. Management should reconsider that practice, especially in a hospitality business.

I liked the airport Onsen the most. It’s a great thing to enjoy before leaving Japan. The room was clean and a good size, and I could see planes taking off from the window, which was nice. It’s a great choice if you have an early flight and don’t want to rush or travel to the airport first thing in the morning from elsewhere in Hokkaido.
