Guest House Shikotsu Kamui - Hostel

The surroundings are really nice, and the place itself was clean with decent beds. Having your own transport would help if you want to explore the area. The staff, though, seemed focused on getting us to pay and didn't explain the basics. We had to search around for the shower, didn't know that restaurants and shops close around 3 or 4 pm, and weren't sure whether the kitchen was available. It didn't feel very welcoming.

The staff were all kind and welcoming, and there's a large, well-equipped kitchen guests can use for free. The rooms are small, but the beds are comfortable. The price is very reasonable compared with other hotels nearby. The bathroom was a little dirty; the rest was clean and tidy.

The place was clean overall, and hot water was available. The kitchen was advertised as shared, but that wasn't really the case, and nobody told me towels were provided. It felt polite in the way I expected from Japanese culture, but not friendly.

A decent budget stay for the price, though nothing special. They didn't go over some standard things when we arrived, but it was easy to ask the staff, and they helped us.
