Omagari City Hotel

Handy location, not too far from the station.

I was just passing through this small city. Heading to Akita city tomorrow.

I stayed over Golden Week. The outside is as run-down as people say, and the inside isn't especially clean either. Think of a somewhat dirty restaurant. The bathroom fan didn't work, so it smelled a little musty, but the air conditioner, TV, and fridge all worked, and there was hot water. The bed and linens were dry and clean. I got to park in the hotel lot both nights, which was great, though spaces are first come, first served. At 3000 yen per person per night during Golden Week, it was incredibly cheap, so I can't complain. For that price, I'd recommend it. I could imagine a place like this normally costing around 10,000 yen per person. Even in developing countries such as India or China, accommodations at 3000 yen can be pretty uncomfortable, with damp or reused bedding, insects, or no hot shower. People who complain should keep that in mind. If all you need is a place to sleep, it would be perfect.

The man at the front desk is a foreigner, and his Japanese is good. He was also good with customers. I don't have anything else to say about the place. It could be fine if all you need is somewhere to sleep for one night.
