There aren't many places to choose from around Date, but this one has an old-fashioned charm.

The location is great, with the town center right there and Date Roadside Station within walking distance. The entrance has a quaint feel, and you can borrow a yukata if you ask. I suppose the main draw is staying for around 5,000 yen. Inside, though, it feels more like a modern business hotel than a Prince hotel, and the building itself is old. There aren't many shared toilets or baths, and the refrigerators are shared too, not in the rooms (lol).

The price is low, and everything is kept so clean that it feels reassuring, even though the place is definitely not new. There seem to be quite a few older employees, and the customer service felt just right. The Wi-Fi, though, is terrible and pretty frustrating. I'll bring my own mobile device next time.

I chose this place for the low price while driving to Hakodate. It has several issues, including no air conditioning and a shared refrigerator, but I think there's value in having a place aimed specifically at budget stays.
