Prince Hotel Takefu

Breakfast was filling, with homemade dishes and drinks you could help yourself to, which set us up well for sightseeing in Takefu and Fukui City. We went with a close group of friends and were surprised by how large our room was. With the big table and a kettle already filled with hot water, we had a lovely time talking and laughing over coffee. Having a separate bathroom and toilet brought back school trip memories. We were all taken with the hotel and would love to return. Everyone's keen to go to Fukui, so we'll stay here next time. Thank you!

The front desk woman was very kind, and I recommend calling to talk through what you need. I booked a deluxe twin room because I needed space for three or more beds, and they could add an extra one. The booking site was confusing. The hotel is older, but very clean, with a roomy bathroom and two sinks, plus a fridge and kettle. The room felt a bit dim, and there weren't many outlets, so bring a power strip. Breakfast runs from 6:30 to 9:30 at the manga cafe next door. Rice, bread, and drinks from the drink bar are free, while the main dishes are set meals. Nearby restaurants and grocery stores made meals easy. When I booked, elementary school children and younger stayed free, but it seems children from elementary school age now pay the adult rate, which is really disappointing. Spacious family rooms were the hotel's main draw for us compared with nearby places, and I wish that free stay for younger kids would continue. Thanks for your help.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and the location was handy, with supermarkets, restaurants, and a Don Quijote nearby. Still, for a Saturday stay, the price seemed a little high given the building and room. The highway also seemed to be close.

They were able to fit me in with a same-day reservation, which was a big help. The room was comfortable and not too expensive, so it seems like a good option for an overnight stay when you can't get home, or for several nights of work. There's a coffee shop in the hotel and restaurants nearby, so food isn't an issue if you book without meals. The bathroom has an old-fashioned faucet-style shower that may take some getting used to, but the shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and body soap all seemed gentle on the skin. I'd stay again, especially since they can take last-minute bookings when rooms are available.
