Ryokan Urashima

The owner is so sweet and kind, and the inn itself is wonderful. We had the Echizen crab lunch course, which is available from mid-November through March. The crab sashimi and shabu-shabu were both delicious, and we left full. I could get hooked on the sweet seasoning in the owner's simmered dishes. The facilities aren't new, but they're clean and well cared for. If good food is what you're after, this place is a great choice.

The landlady was so welcoming that we'd gladly return, and that's why it gets a perfect score from us. We spent two nights here on a summer family trip. Dinner was a real highlight, with crab as the main dish, a boat-shaped sashimi platter, and freshly fried food. There's a bath at the inn, and they also gave us free tickets for a hot spring a few minutes away on foot. After soaking, we enjoyed coffee milk while looking out at the sea.

We felt at ease thanks to the landlady, who was friendly and fun to chat with. The hot springs are an easy walk away, so getting there was no trouble. And the meal was incredible: a huge crab, plenty of food, and a boat-shaped sashimi platter. The crab sashimi and hot pot were especially delicious. I doubt you'll find this much to eat elsewhere. A really lovely inn.

The rooms are more like a guesthouse, so keep your expectations modest. It's basically a futon in a warm room, and that's enough for a night's sleep. The hostess was really friendly and the service was excellent. The food was great too, especially the crab.
