The owners were really kind and helpful. It’s a lovely spot when the weather’s hot, or if you’re up for building a big fire. Bring a car, though. We expected to get around easily, but it isn’t a good base for hiking. I thought it was a little pricey for what it offers.

The peaceful setting by Lake Saiko feels like stepping back to a simpler time. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. It seems to be a family-run place, and although the staff don’t speak much English, they were friendly and accommodating. Cabins and tent spots are reasonably priced, and you can rent bamboo fishing poles, canoes, and camping gear. We’d definitely return when we get the chance.

Getting around was convenient for me as a backpacker, and the owners made me feel safe and welcome. We didn’t share much Japanese or English, but gestures worked well. They even brought us green tea and snacks. Thanks for the warm hospitality. I’d happily come back.

We just spent four nights at our favourite spot in Japan, and I’m already looking forward to coming back. The hosts are the friendliest I’ve met, and their warmth makes each stay special. The setting is stunning, with a beautiful lake and plenty of peace and quiet if you love being in nature. There are campsites, bungalows, and outdoor cooking areas. I just love this place and its people.

We paid 4000 yen for one night with a tent and two bicycles. There’s lots of covered space and a huge washing-up area, plus a lovely lake view. It was very quiet when we stayed, and the owners were welcoming and friendly. We went in July and didn’t need to book, as it was empty.
