Petit Pension Lumber Jack

I've stayed at several pensions, but I don't think I've had food and an open-air bath this good before. The room itself was a typical pension setup, with a toilet and sink, but both the food and bath were excellent and clearly given a lot of attention. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The owners and their son were very friendly and welcoming, and we'd be happy to stay again. After enjoying the Shibazakura Festival at Lake Motosu Resort, we spent the night here. The open-air bath was lovely, with a view over a beautifully maintained garden, and the food was excellent. You could tell the meals were prepared with care and sincerity. The desserts were generous, and breakfast was delicious too. I don't usually eat breakfast, but I finished it all in one go and wasn't hungry until evening, haha. The inn felt a little old-fashioned, but it was well maintained, so that wasn't a problem. There aren't any pet amenities, so bring your own wipes and cleaning supplies. We've stayed at lots of dog-friendly inns, and this food is in our top five. I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lake Kawaguchi with a dog. Thank you!

The warm welcome, the bath, and the carefully prepared, delicious food made this a wonderful inn. You could call it an auberge rather than a pension. The kamameshi was especially memorable. Next time, I'd like to stay two nights.

The private baths were a real highlight, especially the outdoor ones. They aren't large, but they felt just right, and we could relax in private. The food lived up to the praise in the reviews, with portions like you'd get at a traditional Japanese inn. If you don't eat much, choose one of the smaller meal plans. There were no pajamas in the room, though you could borrow a set for 300 yen. I also appreciated that the hair dryers in the room and bathroom weren't the cheap hotel kind. I only wish there had been a mirror elsewhere in the room, since the only ones were in the toilet and by the sink next to it.
