We spent 2 nights here and had a nice time overall. The view is amazing, there's an onsen, and the older hosts are welcoming. They put a lot of effort into keeping the place going. Still, be aware that payment is cash ONLY, which surprised us, and it's far from town. Your options are a taxi or a 1 hour walk, which is tough with kids. I'd say this place is worth a couple nights, but not more, especially if you're traveling with children.

We loved the room and the onsen, and the owners were very nice. A lovely traditional house close to Mt. Fuji.

The room had a nice traditional Japanese look, with low tables, paper windows, straw flooring, and a floor bed with a nice blanket, more like a mattress. I liked the jacuzzi. The location and price were okay, and although no food was served, I could order through them. Service wasn't bad, but they don't speak any English. The BIG problem was the cold. After the jacuzzi, I sat on the floor chair to eat dinner, dozed off because I was tired from the day, and woke up FREEZING and shivering uncontrollably. No matter how high I set the air conditioning heat, the floor stayed icy and cold air was coming in from somewhere. Standing up helped a little, but you can't sleep standing up. I ended up sleeping in my coat, warm hat, and gloves. NOT A NICE EXPERIENCE. This place might be nice in summer, but STAY AWAY in winter.

They even gave me extra rides when I realized I’d left something at the hotel, which was so kind. The cottage was roomy, comfortable, and very clean, with plenty of amenities including a washer inside. There’s also a free shuttle to kawaguchiko station. Thanks!

It’s about a 40-minute walk from the train station, but I thought it was worth it. The inn is right by the lake and a beautiful shrine, and the owner was friendly. It has a traditional feel.
