We stayed at STELLA HOUSE on 1.01.2025. Don’t book this place if you’re expecting the advertised Mount Fuji view. The house has nice architecture, but it isn’t functional. As noted when booking, there’s no WC on lv2, and there isn’t a single hanger anywhere in the house. The bedding was stained and itchy, and I got a rash. The bathroom mirror and sink had spots of grime, and the plates hadn’t been washed properly. The hair dryer filter was covered in dust. Towels were left in a wire basket on the floor. The house can sleep 11, but there were only five of us and we got four bath towels; the rest were tiny hair towels. There’s no floor heating, just one inadequate heater in the common area, which couldn’t make the place comfortable. The power also tripped and everything went dark while we were cooking, with the kettle, hob, and hood in use. We paid several times the usual price for New Year, around 3-4 times as much, and it wasn’t worth the thousands we spent.

A gorgeous home in a lovely spot. The beds were superb, and having a wonderful hot bath was a real treat.

We were a family of seven and had a comfortable stay. The place was very clean, probably because it was newly built, and having a separate bathroom and shower room plus two toilets worked well. There was also a drum washing machine, so we could do laundry before heading home. Obon prices were a little high, though, and I’d like to come back at a cheaper time.

The rooms are stylish, and there are four bedrooms. Fuji-Q is about a 10-minute drive away, with Lake Kawaguchi close by too. In winter, though, it gets cold enough that you’ll need heavy clothes despite the double-glazed windows. It’s also dark at night, so easy to lose your way.

Everything else was very good, but I got bitten in several spots by mites in the bedding in the first-floor bedroom. Bring mite repellent or extermination spray if you’re staying here.
