Hinode Ryokan

Turns out the inn is now run by the fourth generation, correcting what I said in my previous post. Once you stay, you can see why it's been loved for so long. The delicious home-style cooking and the thoughtfulness of the third-generation owner leave you feeling warm and fuzzy 🎶🎵

Dinner was tasty and filling, served right in my room. The bathroom was small but clean, and the room itself was clean too. I think the inn has been renovated, and the hallways and bathrooms were well looked after. The elderly woman at the front desk said she was 80, and she seemed interesting to talk to. It feels like a very homey place. This was my second stay, and I might come back a third time. I stay in all kinds of places for work. Major hotels are usually well maintained, but private hotels, especially some inns, often fall below a basic standard. Hinode Inn was great, though.

The chawanmushi was tasty, but the dinner and sashimi didn't seem fresh. The woman was very unfriendly, and she wouldn't let me take my time in the bath, telling me to get out within 30 minutes. Honestly, I won't be back.

The food comes with so many side dishes and is always freshly cooked that I can barely finish it. I do my best to eat everything neatly. The rooms are spacious and clean, and it's hard to find anything wrong with this inn. It's the best.
