The Room

I stopped for one night on a solo motorcycle trip. Check-in was easy and friendly, and the cabin was cozy and comfortable. The facilities were clean, the Wi-Fi was decent, and there are a few nearby places to grab something to eat.

The shared showers and toilets were spotless, and there are separate toilets for women, which should help them feel comfortable. The room was very clean too, and the bath and hand towels had a soothing fabric-softener scent. The owner was courteous from the time I booked through the day I arrived. The beach is about a five-minute walk away, with a local izakaya also within walking distance. A day spa and convenience store are around a ten-minute drive away, so it seems like a comfortable base for a few days. I’d wanted to visit Toyomachi for ages, and after an acquaintance recommended this place, I stayed a night. It was fantastic. I’ll come back for sure.

The room is new and there’s nothing wrong with it. The toilet and shower being outside is the one downside. On the plus side, the shared fridge is a proper refrigerator and can freeze things.

The cottages are roomy enough for families, and the shared showers and toilets are incredibly clean. If showers aren’t your thing, Shishikui Onsen is about a five-minute drive away. I think the rates were around ¥6000 for adults, ¥2000 for children aged 6 and up, and ¥1000 for ages 3-5. The location is fantastic, and while I’m no fisherman, I’m sure people who fish would love it. The owner’s wife is beautiful, gentle, and very polite. Food at the attached izakaya was absolutely delicious. It’s a little pricey, but good enough that I didn’t mind.
