Hotel Fukui Castle

After I parked, checked in, and lay down on the futon, the front desk called to say the car had to be moved to another parking lot unless I left by 7 a.m. I wish they had explained that at check-in. It was very unpleasant. There was no bath in the room, and the Wi-Fi was weak and unreliable. I don’t think I’ll stay here again.

The furnishings have a bit of history to them, which I actually found charming, and the room and baths felt worth the price. I’ve stayed here twice on business trips, and the inexpensive parking was a real help since I drove. It’s a little away from town, but quiet and pleasant beside the castle. The Koshihikari rice at breakfast was delicious. Prices are hard to avoid with costs rising.

Breakfast came as a set meal. It wasn’t bad, though a bit too salty, and seemed somewhat expensive for what it was. Still, not many places nearby are open early, so I can see the value compared with going to the station. I stayed two nights during my Fukui trip. The building and facilities feel old, but everything was clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning seemed recently installed. For the affordable rate, I think it’s a great choice for a man traveling alone. The station is around 10 minutes away, a little faster if you cut past the Fukui Prefectural Government building. Being away from the busy center meant it was quiet at night. The old-style key has a chain, and having to leave it behind whenever you go out was a little inconvenient. It was a good stay, and I’d consider coming back.

The room was quiet and lovely. I was in Fukui to explore, and staying just a few minutes on foot from Fukui Station made it easy to wander around without worrying about getting back.
