The rooms are really tight. There’s barely enough space beside the bed for a carry-on, let alone a full-size clamshell suitcase. Still, three things made my stay in Fukuoka stand out. The hotel sits at the end of the underground pedestrian street, right by a subway station and several malls. The reception staff were so friendly and helpful: when I was trying to find volleyball shoes for a child, they called several stores to check who might have them in stock. The breakfast isn’t a huge buffet, but the selection feels carefully chosen and the food is high quality. The scrambled eggs were the best I’ve had, soft and silky. Get the Japanese breakfast, it’s really good. I had it every day.

The free guest lounge on the 18th floor is a relaxing spot with a lovely view over Fukuoka and the ocean. This fairly new hotel, opened in 2025, feels modern and clean. It’s right by Tenjin Station, with underground passages leading to malls, restaurants, shops, and drugstores, so getting around is easy. A comfortable, pleasant stay, and I’d recommend it.

The hotel is super clean and spacious, and the staff were professional and courteous with just the right amount of warmth. The location is hard to beat: it connects underground to the Teijin shopping areas and the major department stores, with lots of food choices along the way. The metro is right below, and the Shinkansen station is 11 minutes away. There’s also a free lounge on the 18th floor. It’s a pretty new hotel, and I’m so glad I stayed.

We’ve visited Fukuoka twice, and the gate hotel is our first choice each time. The location is convenient and the rooms are comfortable. After shopping in Tenjin, we’d relax in the clean lounge, which has an astonishing view and delicious snacks. The friendly staff helped make the trip enjoyable.

The rooms were exceptionally clean, and we loved having such a spacious shower. The only tricky part was arriving by rental car: there’s no designated drop-off spot for private transfers, which made handling our luggage and baby more difficult. It’s an excellent option if you’re coming by train, and we’d happily stay again.
