The sashimi set was good, and the restaurant felt peaceful and relaxing, like a nice place for families. It's up a hill a little way off the road that circles Shikanoshima. The road is narrow, but there's parking behind the restaurant, so it should be fine. I showed up without booking and they were able to fit me in. Next time I'll reserve ahead.

The filefish and turban shell sashimi were the standouts. I mixed the filefish liver in and dipped it in soy sauce, and it tasted especially good. There wasn't that unpleasant fishy smell you sometimes get with filefish liver from shops, so it was the first time in a long while I'd enjoyed fresh liver like that. The soup had a strong sea bream broth, though it wasn't especially meaty. The tempura was mostly neither here nor there, apart from the whiting, which was fried just how I like it. We ordered the Kinjirushi Gozen for 1500 yen, with sashimi and tempura, and my wife had the sashimi set meal for 1100 yen. The sashimi platter had turban shell, squid, amberjack, and filefish with liver; the tempura included shrimp, whiting, pumpkin, shishito peppers, and squid. There was also sea bream soup, a small side dish, and pickles. The two meals came out together after a leisurely wait. We weren't in a rush, and it felt like a relaxed lunch. The proprietress was thoughtful and seated us in the tatami room at the back, facing the garden. We'd been visiting Umino Nakamichi around lunchtime and went looking for food on Shikanoshima. We weren't keen on the usual Nakanishi Shokudo, and the parking lots were full during tourist season after we'd driven about halfway around the island. My wife suggested Kappo Ryokan Komine, which we'd noticed along the way. Coming from the west side, it's about 2-3 minutes from the island entrance, with a sign on the right at the top of a slope. You walk up a small hill to get there. It has the feel of an old island inn, not pretty or modern, but relaxed, like a guesthouse. I parked behind the building and the proprietress greeted me at the entrance. Thanks for the meal.

The sashimi was fresh and delicious, and lunch came with a little side dish too. I ordered the Komine Gozen, and the food arrived in under 10 minutes. Komine Ryokan is on Shikanoshima Island. The road gets a bit narrow near the inn, but getting there didn't seem especially difficult. Next time I'd like to stay overnight and have breakfast. Thanks for the meal.

They only serve lunch on Saturdays and Sundays. You can get another serving of sashimi, and it's a good idea to bring change.

The seasoning was just right, and the amberjack in that day's sashimi was incredibly tasty. Lunch at this retro inn, a short walk up a hill, felt elegant and luxurious, and I left very satisfied. It really does feel like a hidden gem that only people in the know have found.
