HOTEL LiVEMAX Hakataeki Minami

The lobby looks nice, but the rooms need work. Ours was very dirty, with grimy walls and a shower curtain, and the bed was much too small for two. The blanket had no duvet cover and was laid straight over the sheet, which left me wondering how often it gets refreshed. I slept badly and dreaded coming back each evening. This was the worst hotel of my two trips to Japan, and it cost more than our place in Tokyo. I have no complaint about the staff, but the manager and owners are representing their beautiful country poorly.

The location was fine and the rest of the hotel seemed nice, which made the front desk experience all the more disappointing. The receptionist was dismissive and unwelcoming, staring at me through his glasses with what looked like angry eyes. I was there alone and felt scared, worrying about what might happen while I stayed by myself in the room. Management should give staff more customer service training and hire people who actually want the job. I’d be hesitant to stay again or recommend it, though I hope future guests have a better visit. It was my first trip to Japan, and now I’m afraid I won’t go back.

The room had useful facilities, including its own microwave, but cleanliness was a real problem. When I checked in, the door had been left open and dust was everywhere. I had a very bad allergy during my stay. Look under the bed and you’ll understand why this felt below the usual Japanese standard, probably the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in Japan.
