Reisenkaku Hotel Ekimae

The rooms are great and the price is cheap, with staff who speak English. It's a very clean, classic hotel, with old-fashioned decor that isn't flashy.

The neighborhood is peaceful, and workers often stop by the park right in front of the hotel. Red bikes are available outside, and there's a laundry room too. There's also an affordable restaurant inside compared with nearby places. The hotel is small but very clean. Not many staff understand English, but they're friendly and willing to figure out what you're trying to say.

The Japanese-style breakfast was delicate, and the kids' menu was reasonably priced. The staff were nice, and could speak enough English to answer general questions about using the hotel. But when I called, one staff member said they couldn't speak English and didn't connect me with anyone who could. I could smell strong cigarette smoke in the lobby and corridors. My family stayed in a single room and a double room. They seemed the same size, except the double had two single beds, so the single felt spacious and the double felt cramped. In general, we had a good experience at Reisenkaku Hotel Ekimae.

The breakfast was great, and Hakata station is only a 9-10 minute walk away. The room felt a bit old, and the walls didn't block sound well.
