The best thing is how convenient the location is: right in front of Hakata, a main station that makes it easy to travel around. It was easy to find with Google maps, and the price was cheap. The staff were all really nice and even searched online to help me find a specific store. My room was clean, quiet, and had the basics, with no bad smells. The hairbrush was better than at other hotels, and the conditioner was surprisingly good. One thing to know is that the building sits just a few centimeters from the next one. Depending on your room, you may have no view outside and it can be dark even in the daytime, so set an alarm. The amenities, service, and professional staff were great. I’d stay here again when I’m not choosing a luxury hotel.

The washlet wasn’t working, so I asked to move rooms. Having to explain the washlet to the older man who had just been at the front desk made me feel physically uncomfortable. I couldn’t relax after that. I had to cancel the TV program reservations in two places, sort my luggage, and request another room. They told me to come down to the first floor, so I carried my bags there. The front desk man didn’t apologize during the interaction. At night, footsteps from nearby rooms and noises in the hallway were loud. The other room had the same view of a dirty building wall when I opened the window, while the hotel across from us looked glaringly bright.

On a business trip, I found the room clean and the service good. It’s reasonably priced for the area around the station, though there’s no affiliated parking, just like at nearby hotels, and parking is expensive. They told me about a lot with a time limit, and I rented a space there for 3,000 yen a night. The building is old and doesn’t have auto-lock, but that felt fair for the price. You can get coffee or other drinks at the front desk and take them to your room. The shower pressure was weak, which was a shame.

The front desk staff were kind, and I felt the warmth of Fukuoka’s hospitality. The amenities and facilities have a Showa-era feel, but everything was clean and comfortable. Near Hakata Station, it’s good value and could be a regular place to stay when visiting Fukuoka. Nearby building restaurants close early, but there are a few local izakayas on the street, so you can still enjoy the nightlife if there’s no time to go to Nakasu after a concert or game.
