The Arbor Hotel

The check-in staff had no warmth and came across as rude. There’s no baggage storage either, just a list of rules guests are expected to follow. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Our shoes disappeared after we left them outside the room, as the check-in instructions told us to do. We later dug them out of smelly trash, and they were wet. We’d also left our slippers neatly by the door, but while we were eating we got an email telling us to put them inside immediately. I was left hungry and unable to go out, and I have blood sugar problems, so I asked if we could use the slippers to get food. The representative only told us to wait, then said he couldn’t hear me and hung up. When we explained that the shoes weren’t abandoned, he insisted the hotel wasn’t responsible for “abandoned shoes” and offered only to check the video footage, saying he’d email us later. There was no empathy or practical help. The lobby code we were given didn’t work, so we had to wait for another guest to let us in. Check-in itself was a whole process involving a video call, scanning a code and entering information already on Booking.com, all just to access a self-service hotel with no staff. It felt like a telehealth appointment. The sign said not to wear shoes in the room, so we followed that instruction. I’ll let you imagine how I felt, especially since in Japan you’re apparently not allowed to write emotional reviews.

I’m not keen on a hotel with no customer service.

It was incredibly confusing to find the entrance, and the elevator to the left of the Burger King on the first floor can’t be used. There’s nowhere to spend time except your room, since there are no shared spaces. It feels expensive, isn’t suitable for families, and was full of foreigners.
