Fukuyama Park Hotel

At 61, I felt comfortable with the place's Showa-era atmosphere. I was on the seventh floor and liked the view, even with rainy, cloudy weather. Younger guests might not care for the facilities. I personally missed having a washlet, lol. I drove in on August 10th, coming through Yokohama and Osaka to meet my eldest son, my grandson, for the first time. From Fukuyama Station, it's an easy 20-30 minute stroll as long as you don't get lost. I'm a smoker, and made the mistake of smoking without opening the window. I should've brought deodorizing spray. If you only need a place to sleep while traveling for work, this is a good fit. It's in central Fukuyama City near the bar district, so getting around by car is easy, and there's a convenience store close by. The staff are very helpful, and there’s a flat parking lot. For longer stays, cleaning is done every two days. There’s no washing machine, though. The facilities are old, and the price matches the quality. I wouldn't choose it for a holiday or a couple's trip. Cheap is the main appeal! 🫶 It's also relatively easy to call various massage therapists to your room, which is nice for looking after your mind and body.

Right in the middle of downtown, and the price was reasonable. The hotel felt pretty retro. Works fine if your plan is to go out drinking and spend the night.

It's around a 20-minute walk from the station, and has that Showa-era hotel feel. For one night, the low room price is a real plus. Hotels near the stations cost a lot, so this feels like a rare find. The water heater is a Sony. I couldn't work out how to use it at first. There seems to be a button to press, but it's not obvious.
