Sakahijiri Hotel Futtsu

This is a very old building with a real Showa era feel, so be ready for its age. Still, it’s incredibly cheap, and fine if all you need is somewhere to hang out and sleep. They offer delivery food, but the hotel is in a mountainous area, so it’s safer to eat before arriving or bring food along. There aren’t streetlights on the roads, so I wouldn’t go out at night, even by car. I was looking for something cheap, so I can’t complain.

The facilities have seen better days, and you can feel the age, though I had no complaints about the bath. It’s clearly a former love hotel, with about two others in the area still operating. This place doesn’t really have that love hotel atmosphere, so bringing kids is fine. It’s spacious and looks like a lot of fun.

I came back later for a solo road trip, and they hosted me again, thank you! Five years earlier, my family of four had stayed here on a summer trip to Chiba with the BBQ package (lol). We grilled in the woods in the middle of the night, which scared my family a little, but we had a great time and saw lots of things (lol). It was a friendly, very affordable inn, and for the price it was an experience I really appreciated 😆🍀

The sofa, bed, and bathroom didn’t feel sanitary. It used to be a love hotel and sits in a remote mountain area, so you have to drive up a dark road. You can’t get there without a car.
