Mutsumikan

My husband picked this hotel, and I'm so glad he did. The food was absolutely scrumptious, including the breakfast we booked there. We stayed two nights, and every staff member was attentive and friendly. We expected the same dinner on night two and would've been perfectly happy with that, but the chefs went the extra mile and prepared something different. That made the stay memorable.

I couldn't get the room with Western beds because it was already fully booked, so this was my first time sleeping on the floor. It was actually not that bad. The yukatas were so cute, and I was lucky enough to have the onsen to myself for a while. The water was amazing, much better than Atami's onsen water. The girl who showed me to my room was very sweet. So was the Japanese granny who served dinner, genuinely lovely. Some of the nicest Japanese people I met on my three-week trip.

We had a happy stay with our toddler. The traditional Japanese room was clean and neat, and we loved the onsen. It's close to both the JR station and the bus stop. The souvenir shop also has great skin care products.

Dinner and breakfast were good quality, and the hotel felt friendly and cozy. The ryokan-style room was large, though it took the heater a long time to warm it up. The location is convenient, but pulling my big suitcase up and down the tunnel behind the train station to reach the hotel was difficult. There was no hot water at the basin in the room, so I washed my face in the hot spring area instead. The basin water was freezing cold.
