noctarium - A night at the cinema

The host’s hospitality was wonderful, so kind and attentive. Our family of four had a great time in this beautiful, artistic place. Watching movies in the "living room" was a lot of fun. Highly recommend staying here.

The best part for me was staying INSIDE a cinema. We had a great time watching shows, being silly, and making use of all the space. The place is huge, with plenty of room for a movie party. Families with kids who like big spaces, movie nights, or even hide and seek could have a really good time here. The owner, Kosuke-san, deserves credit for the idea and the place. I’m giving it four stars because my wife and 10 yo daughter felt it was too old-ish and dark. The entrance looked old at first, and the stairway could use some work. I expected an "old-school" feel from the photos, but my wife and daughter weren't prepared for it and didn’t like the atmosphere initially. They enjoyed themselves eventually, though the feeling didn’t entirely change. A few things could be improved: the entrance could look a little more glamorous and posh, and some rooms felt old-ish in their colors and design. A simple coat of paint could brighten them up. The small metal step into the movie area also felt slightly hazardous and could be smoothed out. There was rubbish, unfinished drinks, and food left in the room, though Kosuke-san cleared it easily. The bedsheets weren’t made when we arrived, either. I wasn’t sure if we were meant to do them ourselves, but after a long trip we wanted to settle in and relax, and it would have been better to find the pillows and sheets already made up. Even with those issues, I’d still give it five stars for the novelty and experience. Please let people know beforehand what the place may feel like.

Really cool place, just a minute from gotemba station. The host was helpful and very laid-back. There’s a multilevel car park a two-minute walk away with amazing Fuji views. No clothes dryer, which was the one downside. Otherwise, a 10/10 place.

The cinema inside the loft was a spectacular bonus, and we had a wonderful time there. It’s a spacious, clean apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, two showers, and two toilets. We were welcomed by a very friendly host. The place is opposite the station on a street with lots of good restaurants.
