Room 218. Warning, don’t book here. If I could give zero stars, I would. This isn’t a regular hotel, but a privately run apartment in a residential building, with no reception or staff on site to help when something goes wrong. On arrival, we found extensive, deep black mold across the bathroom ceiling, vents, and grout. The air quality was terrible, and the room felt like a serious health hazard, unfit to stay in. The host, who uses a pseudonym and only communicates through WhatsApp, wouldn’t fix the issue, offer another room, or give us a refund. I felt they didn’t care about guests’ health, hygiene, or safety, only about taking the money. Save your money and protect your health. Don’t let this place ruin your Tokyo trip. Stay far away.

Room 218 had significant black mold in the bathroom grout, which was a serious hygiene issue and health risk, especially because one of us has asthma. That shouldn’t happen at any price level. The stay was unacceptable. The host showed no understanding and said that at such a low price we shouldn’t have expectations. He also said he didn’t care about bad reviews. After we clearly said we wouldn’t check out without a solution or cancellation, we were repeatedly contacted aggressively through WhatsApp and pressured to leave. That was extremely unpleasant and unprofessional. Booking.com eventually gave us compensation as Genius customers, not the host. The host tried to stop us accepting it and later indirectly tied it to leaving a positive review. That left a very questionable impression. Serious hygiene problems, no customer service, and behavior guests shouldn’t have to deal with. If staff say criticism is ignored, think carefully before booking.
