Super Hotel Gotemba - 1

If you’re lucky, your room faces Mt Fuji. Waking up to that view every morning was amazing. There are plenty of parking spaces too, so finding a spot for the car shouldn’t be a worry. The room was fairly spacious and acceptable compared with the hotel I had in tokyo. The spa and breakfast are available, and breakfast had a decent range of choices. The bathroom is a little old and raised at the entrance, which can be tough for seniors to step into. It seems the rooms were renovated, but not the toilet.

It’s close to the Gotemba premium outlet, and the nightly price is very reasonable. The rooms are small, though, so getting around with more than 2 large suitcases would be awkward. Breakfast was simple but decent, and there’s a good view of Mt Fuji as a bonus. The laundry room was useful, with 3 washers and 3 dryers. A cold wash takes 31min and costs ¥300, while the dryers are free. My load took 90mins to dry.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location worked really well for us. Parking and breakfast were available too. We were happy with our stay. There’s an onsen at the hotel, but I believe there’s only one, so it alternates between men and women. The schedule didn’t work with our trip, so I can’t comment on the bath itself. The room looked modern, as did the hotel, and was relatively spacious for Japan. I was surprised to find a double bed with a bunk on top. There was an unpleasant smell when I first entered the room, which is why I gave the room 3 stars, but after a while I stopped noticing it.

The room and toilet were small, but both were clean. Breakfast was good, and I’d still recommend the hotel after a pleasant stay.
