Pension Milky House(gifu)

The place felt cozy, clean, and well cared for, and the cheerful, helpful owners made me feel welcome. I stayed for three nights in snow season with my 7-year-old. Since I don't drive, the location worked well for me, about a 10-minute walk to Hirugano Kogan. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious and came in big portions. The meals changed every night, so there was no worry about getting bored, and they even let us take leftover bread to go in the morning. I'd recommend eating there. It's very quiet, with only one convenience store nearby.

Both baths were spacious, clean, and relaxing, one suited to 2-3 people and the other to 4-5. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, with each dish carefully prepared. I used the guesthouse to host a client, and found it very clean and well maintained. The whole building is non-smoking, though there is a designated smoking area inside. Phew! I'll definitely stay here again.

The shared bath was just the right temperature, not too cool or hot, and let us warm up properly after skiing. Our room fit five adults comfortably, with enough space to place futons around the long table. It was spotless, stylish, and the food was delicious. We were five middle-aged men staying two nights, paying 12,650 yen per night for two meals including tax, while skiing at nearby Takasu Dyna. We felt a little out of place in this pension, which seemed better suited to couples' anniversaries or family trips. There were plenty of manga, maybe more appealing to someone a generation younger than us. For the free Takasu Snow Shuttle Bus, head to nearby Holiday House Green Garden. The first morning shuttle to Dynaland requires a reservation, so arrange it with the inn in advance. Paying cash at checkout gets you a 5% discount. The one hassle was the large shared refrigerator on the second floor. Our room was on the first, so going back and forth for cold beer was a pain.

I stayed here while visiting Dynaland. The building was nice and clean, and it's fairly close to the ski resort. I only booked a room, and now I wish I'd asked for meals too.
