I had a cozy room and thought it was good value for the area. The host was very kind and helped me book a taxi to the bus station. A good place to stay in Gujo Hachiman.

A great fit for backpackers, couples, or anyone travelling on a small budget. The bon dance season is the time to visit.

We loved staying here. It’s a perfect base for enjoying Gujo.

The inn was near the Gujo Odori dance venue, which made it handy for sightseeing in Gifu during the Obon holidays. They served breakfast during the event, and it was delicious. If you have time, you can spend a while with the cute, unusual rescue cats who are looking for homes. Update, July 2025: it seems the rescue cat facility has moved elsewhere.

After a comfortable stay at Machiyado five years ago, we decided to try this place too. We booked the three-bedroom triple room for two people. It was new and really comfortable, and at 10,000 yen a night for two, it was cheap. It didn’t feel like being in a capsule hotel. Instead, it felt like staying in a detached house in Gujo. The one disappointment was that we didn’t get to see the cats on the first floor.
