Minshuku Ryokan Nagashima

The futon was really comfortable, and everything was very clean. I was treated so well here. The owner worked with such energy that it gave me courage and lifted my spirits. If I visit Hakodate again, I’d definitely stay here. Wishing the owner good health and happiness.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with tasty side dishes, lots of choices, and rice you could refill as much as you liked. I ended up eating quite a bit first thing in the morning. The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and it was easy to find because it’s near Mt. Hakodate. There are separate baths for men and women, and the men’s one is made of cypress. I stayed on a breakfast-included plan.

The building is a little old, but it’s kept clean, and the renovated bathroom and toilet were comfortable. Horaicho tram stop is nearby. You can eat dinner out, though I’d recommend ordering breakfast. I’d come back if I get the chance.

It was convenient to have a parking lot, and both the tram stop and ropeway are close by, with the ropeway within walking distance. The Japanese breakfast was delicious and generous, with free refills. The building and rooms feel dated, though the renovated bathrooms and other areas made the stay comfortable. One thing to keep in mind: the women’s bath only fits one person at a time, so going early is a good idea.
