Spa and Casa Hakodate Resort

We only had two nights, and by the end we wished we could have stayed longer. The staff were attentive, polite, kind, and always smiling, which made us feel welcome. Our room was spacious, with a lovely sea view from the balcony. Restaurants, a gashapon game zone, and a relaxing onsen made the stay comfortable. The hotel had excellent service and complete facilities. We’d happily return and recommend it.

The Wi-Fi kept disconnecting during busy hours, probably because too many people were online, so I ended up using my phone hotspot. Otherwise, it’s good value: there’s a spacious onsen and sauna, and both the room and breakfast were worth the price. The buffet had enough variety that it was different on each of my two days. The room also had a regular fridge, microwave, and washing machine. A supermarket (Topvalu), pharmacy, and train station are all within walking distance.

The hotel is in a quiet area near Omori beach, about a 10-minute walk from the JR station, so I didn’t need a taxi. I’d tried more expensive breakfasts at four other hotels on my Japan trip, but I enjoyed this one the most. I was with family members and heard plenty of compliments about it, especially from my elderly parents, uncle, and aunt. The place is a little old, but the service was good and the atmosphere cozy.

The sea view was nice, and the rest of the room was pleasant. But our suite for five had just two single beds, with three futons in a cupboard that we were expected to set up ourselves. They were very thin and didn’t fit, so we had to overlap them, and the sheets were too small. The room might have worked for two adults, or two adults and a child, but it was clearly far too small for five.
