Tokyu Stay Hakodate Asaichi Akarinoyu

Being right by Hakodate Morning Market and only a short walk from JR station made getting around easy. We also had a pleasant bay view, and the front desk staff were attentive and friendly. The onsen was a nice extra. For our three nights, housekeeping only changed towels and took out trash, which was enough for us. There wasn't much room to open a suitcase, and the elevators got very slow when busy. A solid hotel in a great spot.

The public bath on the top floor has a nice view, and the lobby has sofas and a coffee machine since there’s no in-room coffee. Rooms were clean and in good order, though there isn’t much space for luggage. You get a microwave, washer-dryer and kettle for self-service. Cleaning is limited to towels and rubbish unless your stay is over seven days. I think that saves staff time, though guests who care more about housekeeping should be told ahead. Hakodate station is about a seven-minute walk, with a lively seafood market in the morning. The area quiets down after 3 or 4pm, but some restaurants stay open into the evening.

The onsen lounge looked nice, but when I went to use the bath its lockers were full. My room was very spacious, with two beds, a washer and dryer, a microwave, and a separate toilet and bathroom. Tokyustay had been on my list for a while, so I was glad to finally stay there in Hakodate. There’s a ship museum and a Hakodate sign across the street, and the fish market area is right here. The station is about a five-minute walk away.

We used the breakfast vouchers at one of the 10-plus stalls through the hotel’s partnership with shops at Hakodate Morning Market, which gave us several choices. I visited with my mum in early May 2026, and we really enjoyed it. The top-floor onsen had lovely views over Hakodate Port, especially outside. We also liked relaxing in the 17th-floor lounge with free hot and cold drinks and views of the port and Mount Hakodate. The rooms were roomy, and having a washing machine was handy for travellers.
