The breakfast was free for 6600 yen, which is huge! They also gave us free-flow lemonade as a welcome drink. The room was perfect, with a tram stop and convenience store nearby. The young man at the front desk spoke good English, and the older man didn't speak much but did his job with so much care and passion. I haven't seen that kind of attention anywhere else in Japan so far. They were genuinely friendly and didn't give us any racist looks or stares. Best hotel I've stayed at over two weeks of traveling in Japan. Strongly recommend it in Hakodate!

I appreciated the breakfast buffet at this budget hotel. One to three items changed each day, such as a hot dish or smoothie, and I'm not fussy, so I liked having the variety. Be sure to try the Hokkaido milk, and the smoothie is worth a go too since it's made in-house. I'd skip the croissants and bread, which are easy to get from bakeries, and focus on the hotel's own dishes instead. They were definitely worth it. The pillows were much too soft, like marshmallows, and gave my neck and shoulders no support as a side sleeper. I called to ask for extras, and the staff were happy to bring some. I booked a standard twin room with a sofa bed for two adults and one child on Trip.com, but the sofa bed wasn't made up when we arrived. The staff told me the rate covered two people, not three, which surprised me. Trip.com said they'd sort it out directly with the hotel, but after a long wait nothing was resolved because the hotel didn't respond. Trip.com eventually gave me some coins as compensation.

The location made our family trip easy: Hakodate JR and the bus station are across the street, the tram stop is right outside, and the morning market is less than a five-minute walk away. There are lots of good restaurants nearby too. We stayed for two nights in the last week of October 2025. Check-in was quick, and the front desk staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast had plenty of good choices. There's only one elevator, but none of us had trouble getting to or from the 10th floor. After walking in the cold, windy weather back from Hakodate Observation Station, the lobby coffee and tea station was great. Thanks for a lovely stay. I'd happily return to Hakodate City and stay here again. Highly recommended for visitors.

The hotel was clean and nice, though a little dated. The room was spacious, the staff were friendly, and the location was close to the station. Breakfast was good, with a selection of vegetables and cooked food. A few things could be better: the mattress was a bit hard, there's only one elevator for the whole building, and they use the shower gel as hand soap too. There was just one pillow, and it was as flat as a squished pancake. Still, it's a nice, cheap-and-cheerful place.

The room was so spacious that two of us fit easily with all our luggage, and we had a beautiful city view. It was freezing outside, but the lobby was warm when we arrived. The room has heating and cooling, and you can open a window if the temperature doesn't suit you. The staff were incredibly lovely and helpful, even though they didn't speak English and we only knew a few Japanese pleasantries and directions. I almost didn't stay after reading the reviews once I'd booked, but my good experience at the Comfort Hotel in Kyoto made me stick with it. I'm glad I did. It's about a five-minute walk from the station, with trams, convenience stores, and a great ramen place across the road. I'd happily stay again. It's my preferred place to stay in Hakodate, and you could do a lot worse.
